Many years ago we went to such an Museum of Art (Weingartner) with our class and there were indeed people standing in front of a white picture with a black circle in the middle, discussing it.
I always imagined the painter laughing about the critics who desperately try to give his random work some meaning.

I totally agree. Some "art" really defies explanation and really stretches the definition of art. Perhaps that is the point - expanding boundaries, but I guess I am just a barbarian. I like the more normal avenues of artistic expression.

Like Kinkade for example. I also don't see any point in "analyzing" pictures, decrypting what the artist wanted to tell me.

I went to a modern art exhibition at Nottingham Castle. I've never seen such a random collection of sh*t in my life. A roller skate in a perspex case with a lump of coal on it....a clear plastic body frame filled with ping pong balls. P*ss off.
Im sorry, that's sh*t. There's no meaning there. It's "Hmmm how can I appear different and pretencious".
Bullsh*t. Give me an armada or a country scene. Not a lump of clay wearing a fez painted pink with a banana sticking out of it's ass.
I may be a peasant, but I didn't get to this position in life by having some snot-nosed punk leave my cheese out in the wind.

but i agree though. after two years in art school, i've seen a lot. and i must say, people back in the old days were actually SKILLED. nowadays some artists just throw some junk together and they are either so pretensious and "way off" that they actually believe they have some deeper meaning with it.. or they're just doing it for the lols, making money on doing nothing but throwing together some piece of cr*p! wtf?? LOLOLOL we have this lame lame laaaame norweigan artist (marianne aulie).. who paints nothing but clowns.. and they're not even that nicely painted.. half*ssed, i'd say. And a few months ago, she went out to a tiny little island out in the ocean, took a friend and her most "beloved" paitings... got naked (well, almost i think, and pained her body) and then set fire to the paintings.. that were worth millions of norweigan Kroner. WTF!? I cant remember why, but she said it was to a good cause or something.. anyway - if she had any brains, she'd sell the paintings and give the money to charity (i mean, if she was going to get rid of them anyway). But instead, she had to be "artsy" and burn them, and she was all "omg it's so sad cause they all have their own souls etc"
