I personally believe they make these remakes (most of the time poorly) just to add a gore factor. That sort of irritates me.
I saw the new version of "The Hills Have Eyes" first and though I thought it was a good movie, I watched the original recently and like that one even better.
Yeah, I guess if they make people go back and try the original too, that's cool. There are some remakes I confess to like. Flight Of The Phoenix being one, Miracle on 34th STreet another.

Thirteen Ghosts has Tony Shaloub in the lead. It is a fairly dark horror movie - pretty scary. I liked the Frighteners as well but it was not that scary to me. The first Poltergeist was very good. The second was not as good (isn't that the way it always goes, except with Shrek 2). Sleepy Hollow, I thought, was very good - very atmospheric as with a lot of Tim Burton movies. I would certainly rent Poltergeist and give it a view.
