Halloween Movies

Since we all seem to be a bunch of horror dorks on this site, I was just wondering: what are your must-watch Halloween (or just plain old spooky, if you're in a part of the world that tragically doesn't celebrate the most magical of holidays) movies? Mine are Halloween (the original), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and at least one Vincent Price flick.

Re: Halloween Movies

Well, our Swedes are all in on the Halloween commercial holiday, every year there's a bunch of snot-nosed kids in cheap locally purchased Halloween getup we've seen hanging in the local Quick-E-mart of this town for weeks. emoticon

But the kids around here are getting greedy, they're already ridiculously rich with their latest iPhones, iPads, and all the accessories kids can possibly purchase both for fashion, clothes and bling bling.

One kid told me that one old lady just paid him 500 sek (80 dollars) just to get lost. emoticon And since I work at the local schools, I know pretty much what the kids talk about, and they always talk about cheapskates that doesn't give cool stuff etc...

to me this thing is getting out of hand. I remember the days when kids just visited with their homemade costumes (which btw. was far cooler than the supermarket store bought crap), and had a plastic bag or similar which you were free to fill, usually a few chocolates, a few candy-bars and such.

I'm planning to completely get into the boring-grumpy-old-man mode this year, and shut of all the lights, so no kids or adults even dare to enter this area.

There was a minute of insane madness when (since I am an electronics buff) I actually thought of making a scary entrance with lights and sounds, just to scare them off that way....

...but meh...my back is acin...I'm too damn old for this sh*t.

Nobody ever rings my doorbell since here in Germany (at least in the region I live in) this whole Halloween thing isn't that popular at all. But I don't miss anything, never been such a Halloween fan at all.

Nonetheless some spooky movies are always good and the ones I'm watching (also around Halloween) are usually some of the classy slashers from the 80's. Halloween, Friday 13th, The Prowler, Maniac, The Burning, Nightmare on Elm Street and so on. I also like some of the 90's slashers like Scream or I know what you did last summer.

There are four films I must watch every Halloween. Fright Night, Fright Night Part 2, Hocus Pocus, and Ernest Scared Stupid. If I at least watch those four, I've had a successful Halloween.

3 of those are actually pretty cool. I don't know Hocus Pocus though...

The last street I lived on, Halloween was a big thing with lots of kids trick or treating. On this new street, I don't know? I've stocked up on candy just in case emoticon

Movies I like to watch on halloween don't nescasarily have to be scary. Every year there's a few I always watch like Monster Squad, Ghostbusters and The 'Burbs. Movies that I grew up with and are really fond of.

Movies don't easily scare me anymore and the most recent ones I can recall that gave me a good chill/scary was The Conjuring and the first Paranormal Activity.

I like the idea behind Halloween 3 but that damned radio/tv jingle makes me want to kill myself emoticon
