I love Suburbia

Due to a high amount of remaining vacation days and some stressful days at work I decided to take a week off. And no, I'm not going to the lake or something I just want to spend a couple of days at home in my backyard (not kidding, it's my full intention to stay at home and relax a little bit here).

This morning I was fetching my newspaper and my breakfast rolls and on my way home decided to take a little longer stroll through my neighbourhood. Clear blue sky, the sun shining, the birds singing. It was so peaceful. The atmosphere of a sunny morning in Suburbia almost relaxes me more than spending a week on some beach abroad.

And all those little things you could watch while this little stroll: People taking their dog for a walk in the forest, some joggers (even an old guy who must have been about 80 years old and who was being greeted by a lady asking him where his wife is whereupon he replied she was in her gymnastics lesson emoticon ), mailman bringing the mail etc. There also was a scene which must have been a daughter moving out and her parents helped her loading her belongings into the moving truck (I don't know if it was parked outside all dayyyyy?).

Anyway, all I want to say is: I love Suburbia, especially in the summer time and especially if you have a few days off and stroll through it on a sunny morning while all the others are at work.

yes sometimes you should just Remain calm, float with arms stretched out at right angles to the body...

I mean, slow down and actually observe. Take in the awesomeness that is suburbia.

Re: I love Suburbia

I agree with my neighbors on this subject, hence why I bought a house in Suburbia.

Somehow, I've managed to turn day into night and VS. So I'm enjoying the view from my living room here, the moon passes by my house every night, and right now it's almost full-moon. It's been a real full-moon for a while now, and it almost looks as if the moon is looking down on us, smiling with those sad eyes.

The moon is in a PERFECT center on my large living room window, and later it passes towards a huge thuja type tree, that makes it look like it's a setting from a 70s horror flick or something.
The starlight is amazing out here too, right now our street lights are out for some reason, so the starry skies are extra starry.

I sometimes take a stroll at night on our streets, the occasional loner is walking his/her dog at that time, but mostly it's just me, passing by numerous homes with only their huge flat-screen TVs flickering in the blue-darkness. Someone is watching football, while others play video games. (No I'm not spying or prying, it's just not possible to NOT see these things while walking past peoples houses, everyone here seems to have at least a 50" television in every home). Not worried about thieves, no one bothers to steal a 50 incher anymore. They cost like nothing today...

That made me think a bit, stealing...with a decline in the prices of the electronics stuff, no one bothers to break and enter anymore because there isn't anything to steal anyway...

...maybe we're returning to those good old 80s where no one had to lock their doors, I'd kind of like to think so.

Hm...think it's time to take tonight's stroll around the hood...

Yeah, I just recently read the moon appears bigger these days because due to its orbit around earth it's closer to earth than usual. It's the same here in Germany, full moon shining bright. Unfortunately the sky was a little cloudy last two nights so I didn't have a chance to observe the Perseid shooting-stars. Did anyone get the chance to see them?

Ah, so that's what that was...I was wondering why so many stars where falling down these days, I've spotted an unusual amount of meteorites too.

I need to take a vacation. I don't live in suburbia, but I live in a small town, which is basically the same thing as suburbia. I'd just like to take a week off and pal around the house.
