Anyway, I got to meet the neighbour next door over, Poul, was his name. He told me he was working as an electician at the cable company, so he also fixed the signal of my big screen tv. Great guy. Slightly excentric, but maybe he's taken a jolt or two in his lifetime.

Ah so you met THIS guy:

Re: My new neighbourhood

Summer has past and people are back into their daily routines. I'm working from home today and took a walk around the neighbourhood. So quiet.

They're real friendly here. Passed a lady walking her dog and she smiled and greeted me. I'm not used to that, but it made my day a little better.

Went to the bakery to get one of those meat sandwiches for lunch, and the lady behind the counter was so nice. Sure, she works at a bakery, she's supposed to be nice, but it felt a little extraordinary. Felt great.

God I love the 'burbs

I also love that atmosphere of a morning / early noon in the suburbs in the middle of the week when everyone else is working and you have the chance to take a little stroll around the neighbourhood, enjoying the quietness and kind kind of peacefulness of suburbia.

Did you get one of those beef sandwiches, too?

A little update on the Karlsens. I walked past their house the other day. The front yard still looks like a mess, but they have removed a huge bush, so now I could peek into their backyard from the sidewalk. It looks nice, they actually have a lawn... and it looked mowed?

Maybe they check out? But I haven't met them yet. Actually I haven't even seen anyone go in or come out of that house? They do have a car though.

I will keep my eye on them. They really should do something about their front yard...

Any chance of a picture?

(If you're afraid of revealing your real identity, you can use photobucket or another service that doesn't reveal you).

We just got to see this messy lawn. emoticon

At least they have a lawn to mow.

I don't care about the reveal about my real identity, but I'm not comfortable standing in the street taking pictures of my neighbours house.

I can give you a small update though. Their front yard doesn't look THAT messy anymore because of all the rain we've gotten in the past couple of weeks. That pile of rubble is now covered in plant life and the lawn is not brown/yellow anymore. The front yard is in need of a serious mowing though. The grass is really tall...

"Oh look? One of the huns came out of the cave!"

I've seen the Karlsens now, just forgot to mention it. One creepy encounter and one generic encounter.

It's a couple that I would think is in their mid 30's. The creepy encounter was with the man of the house in early October. We were walking to the store to get some candy and we walked past their house, and there he was fixing the doorbell? His hair looked like he just got out of bed and he had a full red beard, trimmed. He wore green clogs, grey sweatpants and a yellow tshirt with holes in it. While we walked by he stopped and looked at us. I greeted him but he just stood there staring at us? Really creeped me out...

Early december I saw the wife/girlfriend. She was sitting in their car in their driveway as I drove by, no big deal.

They have a nice pile of garbage in front of their house now which is quite funny when you think about how I compare them to the Klopeks emoticon Seems like they like fireworks and they must've ignited a ton of it on new years eve. Problem is, they didn't clean up all the boxes and rocket batteries so it's just sitting infront of their house. It's been raining so now it's just a big pile of mush...

God I love this street!

Hahaha, this is great! So the guy obviously is Hans Klopek but in Denmark he has a girlfriend. So you haven't been there on New Year's eve or took a little stroll? Would have been interesting to actually see them igniting the firework (probably also in a creepy way e.g. by not cheering / smiling at all while the rockets blow off).

Keep us updated on them and...uhm, take care.

Re: My new neighbourhood

A couple of weeks ago we had our version of Halloween called, Fastelavn, here in Denmark. Don't exactly know it is, but it's an old tradition that doesn't make sense anymore. Anyway, these days it's for the kids to dress up and ring doorbels and smack the hell out of a barrel with candy inside.

So, my 2 girls dress up as princesses and as they're only 5 and 6½ I go with them to go ring doorbells on our street, sing the fastelavns-song and hopefully they score some sweets. it was a sunday so most people are home. There's 8 houses, our own included, and only 2 of them had noone home. Oh but wait, let me make that 1 house. The Karlsens, they were home, but didn't answer the door. When my kids rang the bell I was standing on the sidewalk, and I clearly saw that douchebag in the window. When he saw the girls he closed the curtain, so we left.

Maybe he's doing something suspicious in there? Maybe he's got someone tied up in the older cell.., attic (we don't have cellars).
