1989 was a good year for music
So, out of curiosity I looked up what albums came out in 1989 (the year The Burbs came out), and it was an incredible year for music. Nirvana released Bleach, The Cure released Disintegration, Pixies released Doolittle, and The Replacements released Don't Tell a Soul. Hinkley Hills would be enjoying some bitchin' tunes.

Let's also not forget David Hasselhoff's masterpiece "Looking for Freedom".
Just kidding
But you know as a German...well, we all like Hasselhoff here. We really do. Don't ask me why. It's a phenomenon nobody really understands.

You know, I had heard that but I always thought it was some weird mostly-untrue generalization, like everyone wearing cowboy hats and riding horses to school in Texas ( in my 8 years living here I've seen my share of cowboy hats, but no horses on the highway). That's kind of hilarious though. We're like that with Chuck Norris, save a few (such as myself) who acknowledge his general awfulness.

Norm MacDonald had a running joke on Saturday Night Live when he did Weekend Update where he always talked about how something proves his theory, "Germans love David Hasselhoff."

Taylor swift seems to have taken over the google results for this year.

Ricky for sure was listening to the best of '89, since he was a teenager he was hip to that.

I agree. Plus, I can see Ricky listening to the song Youth Gone Wild by the band Skid Row some of the time and taking a liking to it, too. And, he’d also listen to Tom Petty’s 1989 solo album Full Moon Fever and especially take a liking to the songs Free Fallin’ and I Won’t Back Down as well.
