I just finished watching The 'Burbs, during a nice summer rain storm with thunder and lighting on a late Friday night. I could here it from inside my living room while watching the movie, such a great atmosphere.

I noticed a couple of things that I'm sure have already be noted. Inside Walter's (Gale Gordon) house there is a photo of Lucille Ball on his TV set. This is clear reference to his time on Here's Lucy in which he co stared.

Also Bonnie almost laughs when Ray is eating the sardine, she covers it well with the cough but if you look closely a little smile sneaks through.

Correct. Did you also see Art almost cracking up in the back in the scene after Carol slammed the door in Rays face and he's cooling his nose on the couch?

I didn't notice that. But I just had a look and he definitely laughs lol.

I forgot to mention that I noticed Rumsfield's letter box for the first time, how it's supported by two artillery shells.

Yeah and in some scenes you can see that he placed a camouflage cover over his car.

I saw the Burbs yet again today with a Janitor buddy from the schools where I work today, he liked the movie as well. He usually doesn't watch movies, but thought it was so entertaining he'd see another. emoticon

I've bought another Mini Stereo system at the local Second-Hand store as well last week, this one features a built in DVD as well as 2 x 50w wooden speakers from JVC. Nice sound from such a little system, fits nicely in with that bulky old projector I have...

Is that projector bulky and probably a little bit moist?

I'm watching it right now and it always brings me to a peaceful place. Except damn Art has made me hungry and I don't have anything worthwhile to eat.

I really wish I could count how many times I have seen the 'Burbs, but even estimating is difficult.

Definitely in the hundreds, I wouldn't be surprised if it hovers around a thousand.

I'm 38 and I've owned a copy of this movie since it first came out on VHS (I made several copies of the tape for prosperity I enjoyed it so much) so throughout college and most of my life it's been playing as background noise.

On 'Burbs Day I set my dvd player on repeat. It drives the wife mad, but if she doesn't like it she can pack up her stuff and go up to the cabin and wait for that neighbour with the gigantic head to get drunk and fall down the stairs.

But maybe she won't come back until you resemble the man she married.

Come on now, he's a hydrocephalus and he only comes out at night...
